Are You Experiencing A Dental Emergency?
If you are not sure whether what you’re experiencing is a dental emergency, ask yourself the following questions:
- Do you have severe tooth pain? Is there swelling in the mouth, jaw, or facial area?
- Do you have one or more loose or knocked out teeth?
- Has there been trauma to your facial area?
- Is there severe bleeding?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you might be experiencing a dental emergency requiring urgent attention. Contact us immediately for further instructions.
Common Dental Emergencies
If you have a knocked out tooth, some steps can help increase your chances of saving it. Rinse the tooth carefully making sure to avoid touching the root, then gently try to return it to its socket. If that is not possible, place the tooth in a small container of milk. When you come to our office, our emergency dentist will do everything possible to save and reimplant your tooth.
A persistent toothache may indicate an infection or an abscess. Avoid placing any aspirin or painkillers on your aching tooth or gum tissue. Contact us right away for emergency care.
While losing a crown or filling may not seem as urgent as injuries or pain, you still need to call for immediate dental treatment so that you do not sustain any damage to your teeth. Other conditions that may require emergency dental treatment include a dislodged, cracked, broken, chipped tooth, or injury to the soft tissue including the gums, cheek, or tongue.
